According to the commissioner, the exercise will take place as from next week in the larger Rift Valley region to ensure that proper systems are put in place to curb the rising cases of insecurity that have been blamed on reservists who have been accused of being compromised.

"The fresh vetting will take place in the coming week to help address the insecurity issues," said Chimwanga.

Chimwanga made the remarks in his Nakuru office on Friday, a day after Elgeyo Marakwet County Governor Alex Tolgos blamed the national government over the loss of lives along the Kerio Valley due to the Cattle rustling menace.

The commissioner said that the vetting exercise will help in weeding out reservists who might be compromised, including those who are advanced in age.

Several people have lost their lives following attacks along the Kerio Valley which is on the border of Baringo and West Pokot counties.
