That Deputy President William Ruto is a quick thinker is something that cannot be disputed.

On Saturday, October 20, during the Mashujaa Day celebrations, the DP went into a quick session of brainstorming on how to tackle his political rival Raila Odinga who was making his speech.

Ruto invited the former Prime Minister to the podium where he (Raila) regaled the audience with his usual analogy on how NASA failed to take power in 2017.

Raila said that his team was ready for Canaan but upon reaching river Jordan there was a mamba (crocodile) forcing them to build a bridge (handshake) to reach Canaan.

However, by the moment Raila was over Ruto shot back.

“Hii Bibilia ni ya maajabu kwa sababu, kwa wengine wetu tulioenda Sunday school hatukusoma mahali eti katika safari ya kwenda Canaan pale Jordan kulikuwa na mamba. Inaonekana the former Prime Minister angekuwa mwalimu mzuri wa Sunday school,” Ruto said sending guests into a heavy laughter.

Ruto also entertained guests with a story on how ‘the people of Kakamega gave him a wife’.

“The people of Kakamega are very good people; they are God-fearing people. My wife was born here, in Kakmega County and I want to thank the people of Kakamega for welcoming us to their county. They gave me their daughter,” he said.

Meanwhile, Raila Odinga has been appointed as High Representative for Infrastructure Development in Africa, by African Union Commission chair Moussa Faki Mahamat.
