Waititu termed Kabogo’s bid as the 'joke of the year' adding that the former governor does not have the influence and numbers to be president.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the requiem mass for slain businesswoman Monica Kimani at Mount Kenya University (MKU) grounds in Thika on Thursday, Waititu said that Kabogo 'will make the worst president'.

He asked the flamboyant politician to forget politics, adding that he will never make a comeback.

“Kabogo should relax and forget about politics because his fate was sealed in 2017 when I defeated him in the gubernatorial election,” said Waititu.

The Kiambu governor said that the country needs serious people to run for president, arguing that Kabogo is a 'joker who will never make it to top leadership'.

Waititu also hit out Kabogo for criticising his administration.

The Kiambu governor said that Kabogo is envious of the development projects his government is initiating.

“Kabogo should keep off because he had his time but failed Kiambu people,” he added.

On Wednesday, Kabogo hit out at Waititu over what he termed as the sorry state of affairs in Kiambu.

The former governor claimed that the county has taken a turn for the worse following the election of Waititu as governor.

"If you give it (Kiambu County) back to me tomorrow, it would take me six years to get it back to where I left it. Being a governor is not a beauty contest," he said.

Kabogo at the same time declared interest in vying for president in 2022, noting that his desire is to serve Kenyans on the national level.

"I may not run as Kabogo but as a group of like-minded individuals who mean well for this country. I may go for the presidency or be someone's running mate," he said.
