It emerges that Governor Rasanga's administration cannot account for the funds reportedly used in construction of roads across the county.

The detectives have reportedly pitched camp at the county headquarters since Monday, as they also seek information on the legality of the construction tenders and the tender firms.

Confirming the ongoing exercise on Tuesday, Kisumu regional EACC Manager Ignatius Wekesa said that the commission is acting on reports that the process is suspicious.

“It is true our officers are on the ground since Monday to establish some suspicious activities in relation to the construction of the said roads,” he is quoted by the Standard.

“The tenders were awarded to particular company but investigations are still ongoing,” he is further quoted.

This follows a series of protests in the county as locals decry poor roads.

The latest one was only a few days ago when bodaboda operators in Bondo sub-county decreed the poor state of the Bondo-Kapolo-Nango road.

Roads earmarked for construction include the 2 kilometre Opoda-Nyakasumbi road expected to gobble Sh70 million, Bar Kowino-Nango Road Sh350 million, and 6 kilometer Segere-Ogaso Road Sh210m.
