A 26-year-old woman is fighting for her life in hospital after she was allegedly attacked by her mpango wa kando on Saturday in Ibeno village in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County.
Confirming the incident, area assistant chief Richard Gichana said the woman, Divinah Nyanchera, was attacked by Lukas Monari after she asked him to look for another woman.
“Monari inherited Nyanchera after her husband died 3 years ago. Nyanchera asked him to look for another woman because she was tired with him. Monari picked a panga and cut her several times on his head, hands and legs and fled from the homestead,” said Gichana.
Gichana said the woman’s daughter alerted neighbors who rushed Nyanchera to Ibeno health center from where she was referred to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital.
The administrator warned men against assaulting women whenever they are asked to end the relationship.
“Men should be mature enough and respect the decision made by women especially when ending a relationship. Assault is illegal and punishable by law. We are currently on a manhunt to bring the suspect to book," he said.
He said women should stop accepting men to make love with them easily because they may turn against them when ending the relationship.
