A furious Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka asked Kenyans to closely monitor their representatives during the Thursday's voting over controversial 8% VAT.

Mr. Onyonka, who has since mobilised MPs from Nyamira and Kisii to vote against the proposals by President Uhuru Kenyatta, condemned his colleagues supporting the changes.

"Our people have already been taxed enough. Telling them to again carry this unnecessary burden won't be acceptable.

"We shall vote against and I am sure we shall win. If we don't, blame your MP. This impunity must stop," he said as he left interview with reporters in a foul mood.

On Tuesday, Onyonka mobilised MPs from Nyamira and Kisii were they agreed to shoot down the motion.

Chaotic scenes were evident in parliament as MPs chanted anti-Aden Duale slogans.

Mr. Duale has been in the frontline pushing for the proposed taxes on petroleum products.
