Turwa, Kionyo and Nyamaruma residents now have a reason to smile after the many years of ferrying water uphill from uncovered streams that many times exposed the vulnerable to health risks.

During the weekend, area MCA Davins Onuso, who also doubles up as the County Assembly speaker led the 24-hour test run of nonstop water pumping from the recently drilled borehole at Turwa.

Joyous mothers and children with a couple of elders from the surrounding areas turned up in large numbers to witness the discovery, bringing to an end a water shortage that had been further stretched by the dry weather.

"Water has been a problem for the people living in Turwa, Nyamaruma, Kionyo and the surrounding areas. We were keen on resolving this challenge and now we are happy that there will be water flowing from for collection points. We run a nonstop pumping for 24 hours and the results impressive," confirmed the Deputy Speaker.

He further noted that similar projects were lined up for Igoma, Omokonge, Nyaineke with Ekerema being slotted in as one of the areas to benefit from the nearby Turwa project.

The County Government had purchased borehole drilling equipment worth Sh85 million which the leadership intends to use in a rotational cycle so as to cover all the sub-counties.

After completion of the Turwa water project, the equipment shall be host by Sensi ward for a similar initiative. Here is the video captured at the Turwa water project.
