Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen nearly faced axe on Saturday following his persistent onslaught on Jubilee administration.
From opposing lifestyle audit to contradicting the government's position on Mau Forest evictions, top Jubilee leadership is aid to have been angered by the Elgeyo-Marakwet senator.
And in a 6 hours meeting summoned by Jubilee party National Management Committee on Saturday, reports the Standards, members agreed to have the senator replaced.
Two colleagues, Margaret Kamar (Uasin Gishu) and Christopher Lang'at (Bomet) were recommended to take over the position.
At State House later on in the evening, Jubilee operatives continued with the push but it is DP William Ruto's frantic calls are said to have saved Murkomen from ouster.
"The feeling in cycles of power is that from the Senate Majority Leader's statements, his spirit was no longer with government.
"From the opposition of lifestyle audit ordered by the president to his outbursts over Mau evictions, he seems to have become an outsider," said an MP who attended the meeting.
Over the weekend, high octane politics reemerged over Mau Forest evictions with Murkomen directly accusing the government of intimidation.
Ironically, Murkomen's political mentor, William Ruto, had also ordered for evictions when he visited Narok early this year.
