Speaking on Thursday, the county boss laid bare details of secret meetings between him and two auditors who he says attempted to swindle Sh100 million from him.

He claimed that the duo demanded the money to write a good report about his leadership, meetings that were held at his Upperhill private office on a recent unmentioned date.

He narrated how the two, Oyoo and Anita, claimed to have been dealing the same way with his predecessor Evans Kidero, and says that he has records of all meetings as proof.

"Watu wa Ouko, Oyoo na Anita, walinifuata wakaniambia niwape millioni mia moja, nilipokataa wakashukisha hadi milioni hamsini eti ili waniabdikie ripoti nzuri. Waliniambia niweke simu mbali ila bado niliwarekodi.

(They wanted Sh100 million but later reduced it to 50, claiming that they wanted to help me by writing a good report about the county. They also demanded that I out my phones away but I still managed to record everything)," he said.

Sonko was speaking on Kivumbi, on Milele FM.

The county boss added that he rejected the offer despite pressure from his county officials, resulting in his current troubles, where he is accused of wrongly giving a road tender to a company owned by Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.

He said that on seeing that he was unshaken even after releasing a draft report implicating him in wrongful tender allocation two days to the deadline, before releasing the actual report.

However, he said that he has since raised the matter with the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC), in line with the ongoing anti-graft war.

"Walipoona pesa hazikuji wakarelease report, ila nimeshapeleka evidence zote kwa EACC maana siwezi ungana na wafisadi (they proceeds to release the report. However, I have already raised the issue with the EACC because I am fully against corruption)," he added.
