Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday changed tune over 2022 presidential debate which had literally threatened to scuttle his relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
And his latest remarks have sparked debate in Nyamira with leaders openly disagreeing on his move.
"He keeps on hiding in non existing projects just to politic. If he is genuine, let him stop relaunching old projects," said Timothy Bosire, a former Kitutu Masaba MP.
But his successor, Shadrack Mose, who hosted the DP last week, defended Ruto saying he is justified to move across the country.
"I have not seen him campaign. He is just doing his job of bringing service delivery to his people," he said.
On Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has openly rebuked Ruto's 2022 campaigns, held talks with the DP at State House to fix the thorny issues that have deteriorated their relationship.
And inTharaka-Nithi, Ruto, whose allies have been openly campaigning for him, asked them to tone down and focus on service delivery.
"We are disturbing our people with politics. Let us stop and focus on service delivery. They need water, electricity and good roads. It's early to start campaigning."
