The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji for the first time weighed in on allegations that his father grabbed land at the coast.
Speaking exclusively to a local television programme last week, the top state prosecutor said that the allegations were part of a scheme to intimidate him and to send a message for him to go slow on his campaign on high-profile criminal cases.
"But there are also subtle threats. You've seen with the NLC case, my father's name has been popping up suddenly. Interestingly, they did not do that much earlier when they were in office. I think it's a way of telling me, you stop," the DPP said.
Allegations emerged that his father Yusuf Haji, who is the Garissa Senator, grabbed land at the Coast years back with those peddling the allegations calling for his prosecution.
He reiterated that no amount of threats would derail his resolve to do his work, saying that he was only afraid of God.
Yusuf Haji is said to have acquired the land and sold it to a charity organisation.
