Opposition leader Raila Odinga seems to be losing his footing in the vote-rich Migori county, despite enjoying total support in the region previously.

A section of the region, especially the Kuria side seems to be drifting away, and is now believed to be more friendly to the ruling Jubilee party.

Led by Kuria West parliamentarian Mathias Robi, the region seems to have found a new friend in the Deputy President and Raila's biggest rival now William Ruto, a threat to the former Premier's future political endeavours.

Also, it is only in the same county which lands in his larger Luo Nyanza political bedrock where he is facing open rebellion from one of the leaders.

Migori Governor Okoth Obado who is in office on Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has since repeatedly rebuked and defied the party, terming it dictatorial and undemocratic.

This was further fuelled by the party's direct nomination of former Cabinet Minister Ochilo Ayacko for the ODM ticket in the Migori senatorial by-election, which he has since strongly opposed.

Also in the list is youthful leader Eddy Oketch who is now out to battle for the senatorial seat with Ayacko.

He has since managed to beat the ODM wave and make a name for himself as a real challenge for the opposition party.

And to confirm this, Raila last week pitched camp in the county to drum up support for Ayacko, in what many would term fear of the Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) candidate.

Whichever way, it seems that Raila is having a hard time consolidating his former backyard and will need to scheme new moves if he is to prosper in his future plans.
