While making the announcement, Mutua said they will announce the direction for the people of Ukambani when that time comes

“In February, we will convene a forum where we shall announce to our people how the People’s Empowerment Movement will work and benefit them,” said Mutua, who has been a thorn in Kalonzo's flesh for years.

He addressed the press at a Nairobi hotel on Sunday.

Mutua’s sentiments were backed by Kibwana, who has been very vocal in the recent past over President Uhuru Kenyatta's succession.

Kibwana has maintained that he will not be forced to back any candidate for the presidential post.

He said the meetings they have been organizing as Ukambani governors are meant to grow the region.

Kibwana further faulted Kalonzo and other leaders for failing to develop the Kamba nation.

“All these things are being done to avoid a past of poverty of leadership,” he said.

Kibwana, Mutua and their Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu have been blaming Kalonzo for not fighting for the region’s development in the past years he was in government.
