Wanyama has been out of action for weeks now and has missed Tottenham Hotspurs’ opening three matches.

He however trained with the team on Friday, but the match against Watford on Sunday, where Spurs lost might have come too soon for him, as he prepares for action.

Kenya will host Ghana on Saturday at the Moi Kasarani Stadium in a group F clash. Coach Sebastien Migne has included Wanyama in the squad, underlining his importance for the crucial fixture against one of Africa’s footballing giants.

Kenya lost their first match of the group, going down 2-1 to Sierra Leone in the first round clash in June last year. Already the team is in training, with the local based players starting preparations at the Utalii Grounds from Saturday.

Football Kenya Federation officials are optimistic that Wanyama will be fit for the match, with medical doctors of the two sides, national team and Spurs having exchanged notes on the recovery of the Kenyan star.

Ghana, who thrashed Ethiopia 5-0 in their opening match, are expected in the country on Thursday.

Tickets will be retailed at Sh1000 and Sh 200 for VIP and terraces sections respectively.
