Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has hit out at Governor Lee Kinyanjui for allegedly rounding up street children and dumping them at a forest in Baringo.

The more than 40 children were found on Thursday morning as they traced their way to a nearby village after a chilling night in Torongo forest.

The said that 'Nakuru county officials' arrested them on a swoop on Wednesday night and transported them to the forest.

"The shocking news that some boys were last night rounded up and carted away from Nakuru town only to be dumped in a forest almost 100 miles away is unbelievable.That Nakuru County resources and personnel were involved in this atrocity should be condemned by any sane person.It is shameful and embarrassing," Kihika said.

 The vocsl senator asked Kinyanjui to respond to the issue which borders on crimes against humanity.

"Am challenging Governor Kinyanjui to come clear on the matter. Those responsible for this crime against humanity must face the full force of the law. I shudder to think what would have happened had the good people of Baringo not taken swift action to save the young boys," she added.

The senator described the move to dump the boys in the forest as barbaric, heartless and inhuman.

She hit out at the county's executive saying it lacks a clear policy to deal with the challenge of street families.

"It's such a sad state of affairs if this is how the county executive chose to deal with the street children challenge," Kihika said.
