Raila, in a Parliamentary Group meeting, had asked Orange party MPs to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's proposals which included among other things an introduction of 8% VAT on fuel.

But during a National Assembly special sitting on Thursday, some legislators led by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo opposed the move.

"My Conscience is clear! We said a resounding no! The Speaker heard a yes! An August House indeed!..disgrace!" Amollo posted in protest of his decision to pass the controversial bill.

But Raila's spokesperson Dennis Onyango bashed the MP challenging him to leave ODM if he could no longer agree to a consensus position of the party.

"I think you should go a step further and resign from the party and seek fresh mandate since your views are no longer consistent with those of the party. That would make you truly honourable," Onyango said.

But in a quick rejoinder, Amollo vowed to decamp from the party if he receives official communication.

"Dennis, write to me officially and I will," the first-time legislator stated.
