Billionaire businessman and politician Zedekiah Kiprop better known as Buzeki has hit out at Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany following his recent remarks over the 2022 Uasin Gishu gubernatorial race.
Kositany speaking during the burial of governor Jackson Mandago's mother at Kuinet about two weeks ago noted that it is only the Nandi community that will decide who to be the next county boss.
But reacting to the utterances, Buzeki who unsuccessful vied against Mandago in 2017 termed them as uncalled for and ill intentioned.
“Uasin Gishu County is a cosmopolitan county and residents should be left to practice their democratic right by choosing the governor of their choice without any interference,” said Buzeki in Eldoret town, Sunday.
He noted that it is not the tribe that will determine the next governor but the candidate’s manifesto and development agenda.
“Such utterances from my friend Kositany will divide residents based on their clans and tribes which is not good for this county. To avoid such a situation, let the people decide for themselves,” insisted Buzeki who is considered a frontrunner in the race to succeed Mandago.
Kositany's utterances are set to ignite ethnic rivalry between Nandi and Keiyo communities that were witnessed in 2017 during the Buzeki, Mandago duel.
Mandago enjoyed massive support from the Nandi community who are the majority in the county while Buzeki had the support of the Keiyo community and most of the non-Kalenjins that also consist of a sizeable number of voters.
