Garissa Township Member of Parliament Aden Duale has a father-in-law who has left a huge mark in the Kenyan History.
Retired General Mahmoud Mohamed is the father to Duale’s wife.
He immortalised his place in Kenyan history by suppressing the 1982 coup that sought to smoke Retired President Daniel Moi out of office.

Retired General Mahmoud Mohamed joined the armed forces in 1953.
He managed to rise to the 1st Batallion, Kenya Rifles (1KR) commanding officer.
The year 1982 presented him with a chance to make himself President Moi’s confidant.
He led Major Humphery Njoroge, Major Kiritu, Major Kithinji, Major Cheboi and Major Wanambisi in restoring order.
He marshalled them to Voice Of Kenya (VoK), currently Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), and dealt with rebelling soldiers who had taken over the station.
Aden Duale’s father-in-law has earned respect from many people because of his determination.
He rose from a private in 1953 to the Chief of General Staff of the Kenya Defence Forces in 1986.
Moi rewarded his 1982 bravery by making him a powerful personality in the military despite his limited education.
Despite being part of the regime that made Kenya a one party state, Mohamed will ever be remembered for his role in combating rebelling officers in 1992.
