Mwala sub-county administrator Mark Nzomo on Tuesday said that those found operating contrary to the set rules and regulations will face the full force of the law.

Nzomo expressed concerns that there were some traders operating illegally without permits and within the proximity of schools.

"There are some people who have opened bars which are unregulated and unlicensed, they should know the law will not be lenient once caught. Also, those within a 300-metre radius from schools should vacate before we get to them," he said.

The administrator also said that the operators should ensure they don't admit or sell alcohol to minors. He also warned parents against taking their children to liquor joints.

Nzomo further urged members of the public to be on the lookout and report operators flouting the rules.

"Residents should also work closely with the police, report any bar opened near schools or selling alcohol to underage kids so that action can be taken. My office has liaised with the Deputy county commissioner to ensure the rules are followed," he said.

Nzomo addressed residents at Mbiuni market.
