Last month, Olunga joined Kashiwa Reysol on a three-year-deal from Chinese's side, Guizhou Zhicheng. He decided on the move after his loan spell with Spain’s Girona FC came to an end.

When asked why he decided to go to Japan,  the former Gor Mahia striker said “as a player, I like new challenges and I wanted to test my ability in Japan. It is a good league that every player would love to play in,” he is quoted by goal.com.

Two weeks ago, the striker came off the bench to score his side’s last goal as Kashiwa Reysol thrashed V-Varen Nagasaki 5-1 in a Japanese topflight league match known as the J-League thus, becoming the first Kenyan to ever score in a Japanese topflight match.

“It was good to get my first goal as it gives me confidence going into the next match. I am also adapting well because they are good people, they want everyone to feel at home,” he said of his debut goal.

The Striker is in the Country to lead Harambee Stars in a 2019 AFCON qualifier match against Ghana’s Black Stars to be played at the Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.
