President Uhuru Kenyatta has said that he will still support Deputy President William Ruto in 2022.
President Uhuru dismissed reports that he was no longer planning to support Ruto in 2022 following the handshake deal with opposition leader Raila Odinga. The Head of State made the remarks on Sunday while addressing residents of Nandi County.
"What I told you here last time (2017) is still the same. Newspapers will write things, but I do not really care what they say. What is important is your lives," he said during a fund-raising for construction of a commercial building for the Anglican Church.
Following the handshake, many analysts have been speculating that President Uhuru will ditch Ruto in favour of Raila Odinga.
A section of Jubilee leaders even went ahead to state that Raila should quit politics.
Recently, Raila was appointed by the African Union as a special envoy.
Reports have emerged alleging that President Uhuru might have had a hand in the appointment of Raila by AU.
Following the appointment, Jubilee leaders are calling for Raila's resignation from politics.
