Olkaria's Geothermal spa is arguably the most wondrous thing in all of Nakuru County. The natural spa contains warm water that is rich in minerals and the water is heated naturally.
Located at the heart of KenGen’s geothermal wells, the spa is also a tourist attraction registering visitors from Africa and beyond on weekends and also from around the globe.
The spa, siting on about an acre of land contains swimming pools for children and adults as well as a restaurant that serves a wide variety of foods. The marvelous site located at the heart of Hells Gate National Park is best described as Mother Nature’s gift.
The staffs say they receive visitors in the range of 70-100 on a daily basis during weekdays and at least 100 on weekends and public holidays.
"We receive many visitors on a daily basis. On a bad week we can average around 70 or 80. We usually have more than 100 on weekends especially Saturdays. On Sundays we do not get as many bt the figures are greater than during the week,” said Risper Chelagat, a receptionist at the spa.
She also says they have in the past registered visitors mainly from Italy and China who also come to tour the Park as well as the geothermal fields inside Hells Gate National Park.
“The foreigners we receive are mainly on official duty at the geothermal fields or visitors of the Hells Gate National Park. They usually stay for a very short period and then leave. It’s usually just a few hours,” she adds.
The geothermal water is rich in minerals that cure diseases such as Psoriasis, Fibromyalgia arthritis and improves skin texture.
