A tough-talking Deputy President William Ruto has said that he will not allow individuals to wreck the Jubilee party.
Speaking on Saturday in West Pokot, the DP said politicians want to destabilize Jubilee ahead of the 2022 general election.
“They are after tearing apart the Jubilee party and derail its development projects so that it becomes a campaign bait,” said Dr Ruto.
In a thinly-veiled attack on Opposition leader Raila Odinga, the DP said those who broke other parties want to do the same to Jubilee.
“They broke KANU, NASA, Cord and now are after finishing Jubilee,” Ruto said.
He added: “They are serial liars whom Kenyans cannot believe in. Our plans on matters development will not be undermined by leaders who want to demean the Jubilee track record. That is why we will protect our party, and our programs.”
The DP’s allies have been at loggerheads with Raila since the March 9, 2018 handshake between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
They accuse Raila of using the handshake to rock the Jubilee coalition and interfere with its 2022 succession plan.
However, speaking on March 9, 2019 during a function to celebrate one year since the handshake, Raila said he is not party to Jubilee affairs and thus can in no way interfere with its plans.
