Residents of Etago in South Mugirango constituency have threatened to stage protests if the nurses' negligence and abandonment at Etago Level Four hospital continues.
On Wednesday, locals led by Joseph Ooga said serious action needs to be taken for locals to get decent healthcare services.
"The medical personnel at the facility are lazy and abandon patients for long hours at the waiting bay," he noted.
Mary Isaboke said she went to seek treatment at the facility at 7 am on Wednesday but, she was served at 12:30 pm.
"After waiting for several hours I was referred to buy medicine at a local chemist without even an injection to relieve pain," said Isaboke.
Janet Bosibori accused the nurses of reporting to work late and leaving early.
"We will stage a demo to push nurses to improve or be transferred for new nurses to be deployed to serve us," she stated.
Bernard Siocha, a clinician at the facility dismissed the claims saying the facility has a shortage of medics.
"We need more people to be employed so that we can improve on service delivery. Locals should instead request the county government to increase the number of staff," he said.
