President Uhuru Kenyatta has included his former critic Governor Ali Hassan Joho among those he awarded on Jamhuri Day.
The Head of State picked Joho as one of the leaders who have offered outstanding services to Kenyans in different capacities. Uhuru also included Suba South Member of Parliament on the list.
Here are the leaders who received the Elder of the Golden Heart (EGH) award:
1. Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho
2. Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga
3. Suba South MP John Mbadi
4. Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok Koli
5. Narok Governor Tunai Samuel
6. Embu Governor Martin Wambora
7. Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua
8. Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos
9. Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago
10. Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru
11. Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso.
Other politicians that Uhuru recognised are Nominated Senator Agnes Zani, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa and Seanator Johnson Sakaja.
The president also feted Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Geroge Kinoti and the Dorector of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji. The two got the Order of the Burning Spear award.
They have been at the forefront of fighting corruption.
