Last month, Uhuru, who'd travelled under invitation of President Donald Trump, gave the diaspora population a wide berth, contrary to the traditions of a visiting Head of State.

And ambassador Njuru Githae, said there were no plans for the president, who's attending UN General Assembly, 73rd session, to meet Kenyans.

“As far as I know, there are no such plans but the President will be attending so many meetings with heads of states and development partners while in New York,” said Mr Githae.

Already, a section of Kenyans have linked the latest snub as a well orchastrated evasion of hard questions likely to rise about high cost of living back home.

On Thursday, MPs passed Uhuru's new tax proposals that would see VAT on petroleum products rise to 8 per cent.

“The president was bound to face a barrage of questions if not outright heckling from the diaspora. Many had planned to ask very tough questions,” said Dr Duncan Obare of Manchester, New Hampshire.

Among the issues Uhuru is expected to address include trade relations and insecurity in the Horn of Africa.
