President Uhuru Kenyatta has adopted a new way of operating since he took over power for a second term.
Unlike after 2013 where Kenyatta was reportedly fond of working with his advisors and confidants in making major government decisions, sources now say that is not the case.
Many of the decisions made in his first term in office were reached after consulting those close to him, sources said.
Uhuru is now said to be keeping even his handlers in the dark as he handwrites major government decisions and prevents any leaks.
An example is the recent appointments of ambassadors and heads of parastatals made where no one in statehouse knew what was coming.
"He gave Kanze (Dena, the deputy statehouse spokesperson) handwritten notes to read to the media. Even Kanze had to read as her team writes to prepare a press release to be sent to newsrooms later," a source said.
On Friday, a local daily reported there is a cabinet change looming. Interestingly, not even Uhuru's closest handlers would name the names to be affected.
"No leaks these days," a statehouse source told a local daily.
