Speaking in Tseikuru, Mwingi in Kitui county during the burial ceremony of Kalonzo’s father Peter Mairu on Friday, the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator noted that Kalonzo can still realize whichever political ambition he has.

In a veiled reference to Musyoka's presidential ambitions, the close ally of Deputy President William Ruto added that every Kenyan from any corner of the nation can lead the country including the former Vice President.

“Kalonzo’s journey is not over,’’ he was quoted by the Standard.

Also present was President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga who doubles up as the new African Union Infrastructure Envoy.

Others were Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana among others.

The late Mairu who died last week aged 94 had expressed his wish to have his son occupy the State House at some point.

Kalonzo’s previous presidential ambitions have, however, not paid up, shelving his bids in the last two consecutive general elections in favor of Odinga.

He is yet to officially announce his plans for the approaching 2022 general polls.
