Slain university student Sharon Otieno will not be buried anytime soon, it has emerged.
According to Sharon's family lawyer Peter Kaluma, the Rongo University student will only be buried after thorough investigations into her death have been completed and he killers arrested and charged.
Speaking on Saturday, Kaluma said that Kenya is a forgetful country and burying Sharon before Kenyans know the truth about her death may shut investigation and subsequent prosecution of her killers.
"I insist that Sharon Otieno will not be buried in our ancestral land until we know her killers. Kenya is a forgetful country and the moment we bury her, we will forget everything to do with her death," Kaluma is quoted by Sunday Nation.
Sharon's body was found in Kodero forest in Migori after she was abducted alongside Daily Nation journalist Barack Oduor.
Her death has elicited debate in the country following the wide mentioning of Migori Governor Akoth Obado's name in relation to the incident which has seen his personal assistant Michael Oyamo arrested.
Leaders including Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko have called for the arrest of Governor Obado.
Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are currently carrying out investigations that may help in the arrest of her killers.
