Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has torn into Dr Ekuru Aukot's Punguza Mizigo initiative, saying that it was poorly drafted.
Speaking on Wednesday on Jeff Koinange Live JKL show on Citizen TV, Millie contended that no serious lawyer would throw their weight behind the bill.
“No serious lawyer can support that bill (Punguza Mizigo). It’s nothing to do with politics, this I can tell you for a fact, it’s just poorly drafted," she said.
The initiative whose chief exponent is Thirdway Alliance leader, Dr Aukot seeks to significantly reduce the number of constituencies, abolish the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) fund and target resources to the grassroots.
Aukot has accused those opposed to his initiative of spreading lies about the bill and intimidating MCAs.
The Murang'a and Kirinyaga County assemblies rejected the initiative, drawing the anger of the Thirdway Alliance leader who has vowed to take legal action over the manner in which the bill was rejected in Kirinyaga.
Critics contend that it will roll back gains made under devolution, a claim that Dr Aukot has strongly rejected.
Among top leaders who have rejected the initiative is veteran opposition and ODM leader Raila Odinga, who has asked Kenyans to wait for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI)
