The student from Tumaini Secondary School was facing charges of allegedly killing Peter Mogusu Omare, a Physics and Computer Studies teacher at Hopewell Secondary School in Barut, Nakuru County.

The student finally took the plea since January when he was arrested after the prosecution confirmed to the court that he was fit to stand trial.

This is after the student underwent mental assessment.

The student through his lawyer, Peter Bore, pleaded with the court to be released on a reasonable bond term.

Justice Joel Ngugi, however, directed the accused to be detained until Wednesday when the bond application will be heard.

The student is accused of allegedly killing the teacher together with others on January 24, 2019.

The 35-year-old teacher was attacked about 100 metres from the school while on his way to his house.

The teacher who suffered multiple head injuries and a cracked skull had confiscated a phone from some of the students in the school during the day.

The case will be heard on February 27.
