Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has lauded the Kenya Catholic Bishops for banning politicians from debating politics in the church.
On Friday, the Catholic Church said it will not allow politicians to use its pulpits for politics.
It said the decision was reached after a recent conference where it was agreed that religious issues cannot be mixed with politics.
The church asked politicians fond of politicking on the pulpit to find other places to do this.
Governor Mutua is now happy with the decision by the Catholic church.
"I support the decision by the Kenyan Catholic Church Bishops banning politics in church. I encourage them to also ban some politicians from 'cleaning' illegally acquired money in church harambees," Mutua said.
In the post, the Maendeleo Chap Chap Governor added, "Yes, we need money for God's work but it should not be 'blood' money."
Governor Mutua has openly castigated some religious leaders who he accuses of accepting money and gifts from politicians.
Mutua claims that the money some politicians are dishing out to churches could be proceeds of corruption.
The Machakos Governor has also been castigating religious leaders for allegedly keeping silent on the war against corruption.
There have been concerns in the past weeks as politicians openly use church podiums to propagate the 2022 succession politics.
