On numerous occasions, the duo has been taking each other head-on, especially on matters 2022 politics.

However, in a strategic change of tact, Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party on Sunday sent out a special Mother’s Day message to DP Ruto’s wife, Rachel Ruto.

In the tweet that tagged Rachel, Ida Odinga and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, ODM delivered its sweet message in what is believed to be a show of appreciation for the critical roles they play as responsible mothers.

"The love of a mother is the veil of a softer light between the heart and the heavenly Father". Samuel Taylor Coleridge. From the Orange Party, Happy Mothers Day Mama @IdaOdinga First Lady @FirstLadyKenya, @MamaRachelRuto and all the Mothers in Kenya. KENYA is because you are," ODM tweeted.

Amid the Mother's day special message, Raila and DP Ruto furthered their political rivalry tearing into each other in separate public appearances.

From Turkana, Ruto described Raila as a political conman. On his part, the opposition chief faulted Ruto for engaging in 2022 politics, claiming that he is not Uhuru's automatic successor.
