Interior CS Fred Matiang'i on Thursday appeared before the parliamentary committee probing the sugar scandal.
This is after Matiang'i failed to appear before the committee twice, a move that angered MPs.
However, speaking on Thursday, the CS stated that he could not appear before the MPs because he was held up in the Northern Corridor meeting that was ongoing on in Nairobi.
Further, Matiang'i apologized for not appearing before the committee because he received the invite very late on Friday.
The probe is still ongoing with the CS shedding more light on the matter.
Two weeks ago, the CS stated that contraband sugar nabbed in various godowns was laced with mercury and copper.
He further stated that 72 arrests have been made so far.
