President Uhuru Kenyatta's succession politics seems to be taking shape as politicians continue traversing the country ahead of 2022 showdown.
Maendeleo Chap Chap leader Alfred Mutua on Monday asked Kalenjins and Kikuyus to pass button to other communities in presidential polls to foster peace.
Speaking at Tindereti in Borabu, the second term governor, who declared his intentions to run for president, said small tribes should also be given chance to lead the country.
"For us to have unity, we must embrace other tribes. If you go with mentality that only your tribes should lead, chances are that we shall continue struggling as a country," he said.
According to him, Mt Kenya and Rift Valley regions should now cede presidency to other regions having led the country since independence.
"Our Kikuyu and Kalenjin brothers should now support someone from a small tribe. That's the only way we can have peace. We can't have presidency rotating in two regions," he said, adding that he's ready to take over.
His sentiments were echoed by Senator Okong'o Mogeni, who also said that small tribes should be given a chance to lead the country.
"We have competition people from small tribes. It's time they are supported. All we want is a person with integrity and good morals," he said.
Other leaders present were Samuel Arama (Nakuru West), Senator Sam Ongeri of Kisii and Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama.
