Nairobi Governor Sonko is the subject of a viral meme after a photo surfaced online of himself watching from a distance as President Obama and his sister took a photo with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and Foreign Affairs CS Monica Juma.
His facial expression indicates that he is not happy with the state of affairs.
The flamboyant governor is now at the receiving end of jokes on social media with scores laughing at him.
It is not clear why the governor of Nairobi was not invited to join in the photo.
Here is what Garissa residents had to say:
"It was unfortunate that he was left out of the photo in spite of the fact that he is the governor of Nairobi," Juwariya Ahmed says.
"That was not just disrespect to the governor but also to the people of Nairobi who elected him," Hulage Mohamed says.
"Sonko should just accept that he was unwanted. Why did he have to photobomb?" Fukhe Abdulsaid says.
"Obama was in Nairobi and Nairobi has a governor who is Mike Sonko. He should have been part of that photo," Buno Hassan says.
"These things are usually planned ahead of time. Probably Sonko was not in the plan," Sakti Karim says.
