The President landed at the Kisumu International Airport on Thursday noon, and was received by a host of leaders led by opposition chief Raila Odinga.

This came a few minutes after the arrival of his Deputy William Ruto who also had a small chat with Odinga who has assumed the role of the chief host for the presidential visit.

In a tweet, the Governor expressed his happiness for hosting the top delegation.

‘’It is my great pleasure to welcome the President H.E @UKenyatta, D.P @WilliamsRuto, Rt. Hon @RailaOdinga, Hon. @skmusyoka and a host of dignitaries to the great county of Ksm ahead of the UHC launch at ASK ground that will see our people access free medical services,’’ he tweeted.

Other leaders who are also accompanying the President include Wiper Democratic Movement and Peace Envoy to the troubled South Sudan Kalonzo Musyoka.

The Head of State will later in the day launch the Universal Healthcare Coverage (UHC) at the Mamboleo Showground, before attending a UHC  luncheon at the Nyanza Golf Club.

This will be after commissioning the Kisumu–Kakamega road and officially opening the Ken Obura School named after former Kisumu Central lawmaker Ken Obura.

He is expected to head to the neighboring Siaya County on Friday, accompanied by Odinga.
