ODM party leader Raila Odinga is still actively involved in the party's affairs contrary to claims that he's preoccupied, Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has said.
Last year, Raila was appointed as AU's Infrastructural Development boss, a move that makes him tour the continent often. Over the weekend, he was in DRC Congo where he toured various hydro-electric projects.
Nonetheless, with anxiety reported within his party over other engagements, Sifuna says the ODM boss is still in charge and usually attends all meetings convened by the party.
Despite his involvement in the party affairs, ODM said in a tweet on Monday, that Raila will, however, not engage himself in early presidential campaigns.
According to the party, he is keen to promote peace and his pact with President Uhuru Kenyatta, in which they both agreed to spearhead development agenda across the country.
"We want our members and the general public to know that our PL @RailaOdinga is very much involved in party affairs and he is always present for party meetings/activities. However, what he has not done and will not do is to involve himself in politics of 2022 as at now," ODM said.
While DP William Ruto has intensified his campaigns ahead of 2022 presidential elections, Raila has remained mum. It is not clear whether he will choose to run for the fifth time or not.
