Mavoko MP Patrick Makau claims that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga has not helped Kenyans.
Makau said the handshake has instead promoted corruption in the country.
He said the handshake meant to improve Kenyans livelihoods has only helped a few individuals.
On matters of Machakos politics, Makau said he supported former KathianiMPWavinya Ndeti's election on August 8, 2017, and he is ready to do the same if the Supreme Court rules that a by-election be conducted for the gubernatorial position in the county.
“I campaigned for Wavinya Ndeti and I am ready to campaign again for her if the court allows for a by-election since her votes were stolen, we all know who stole them,” Makau said.
Makau spoke at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Kyumbi, Machakos County on Sunday.
Every day from dawn to dusk Kenyans and the media talk about the much-celebrated handshake between the opposition and the government.
Nonetheless, politicians and ordinary Kenyans have a different thought about it. Some are in support of the initiative while others blatantly oppose the move.
Makau criticised Deputy William Ruto's political attacks on fundraisers.
"I wonder why when Ruto does a fundraiser, people politicize the matter and term it as theft yet all of us do the same. Kenya is full of corruption despite the so hyped handshake,” Makau concluded.
March 9, 2018, will go down in history as the day when President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga put aside their political differences and decided to work together for the country's interest.
