Baringo Senator Gideon Moi said he was 'deeply humbled' following the visit by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to Kabarak, where he personally condoled with retired President Daniel Moi.
Mr Moi, who served the country for 24 years, lost his eldest son Jonathan Moi. During the burial, Raila was absent since he had accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta to China for an official trip.
And on Sunday, Raila trooped to Moi's Kabarak home to convey his condolences. Together with his elder brother Dr Oburu Oginga, he was received by Senar Moi, who is keen to contest Presidency in 2022.
"Visited retired President Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home to condole with him following the recent passing of his son Jonathan. We continue to wish strength to the former President and his family. May God grant them peace during this trying time," he wrote.
And Senator Moi also hailed Raila Odinga's gratefulness for standing with the family during the mourning period. The Baringo senator also thanked Mr Odinga for finding time to visit the ailing former President.
"I am deeply humbled today to have the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga and Hon. Oburu Odinga pay a visit to H.E Mzee Moi at Kabarak to personally deliver their messages of condolences following the demise and subsequent burial of Jonathan Toroitich.
"We are grateful as a family because individually and as a nation, you stood with us in prayers in such a sombre, difficult and trying moment. Also present to receive the former Prime Minister was Alex Tolgos, the Governor of Elgeyo Marakwet, Hon. William Kamket and Senator Abshiro Halake," added Moi.
Despite intriguing history between Odinga and Moi family, Gideon and Raila have expressed intentions to work together ahead of 2022 polls. They have both waged endless war with Deputy President William Ruto, who is perceived as Rift Valley kingpin.
