The ongoing rivalry between Deputy President William Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga on Saturday took a new twist after the DP called for the arrest of Raila.
Speaking at the Kiwawa Boys High School in West Pokot on Saturday, the DP dug into Raila's past, saying its time he paid for the treasonous act he committed on January 30 last year.
He also bashed the former Prime Minister who on the said date swore himself in as the People's President, terming him an enemy of development and national cohesion.
“He will not take us back to the politics of tribalism and disunity because he is known for negativity and destruction,” Ruto was quoted by the Standard.
He reiterated his claims that the Orange party leader is using his closeness with President Uhuru Kenyatta to sow discord within the ruling Jubilee Party.
According to Ruto, Raila is working on an evil plan whose aim is paralyzing and finally destroying Jubilee.
However, he warned that the same will never happen, vowing to invest all his effort in ensuring the party remains afloat.
"I know Raila Odinga, he has the tendency of breaking parties, he broke CORD, NARC, KANU, ODM and recently he disunited NASA.
He is now in Jubilee to bring it down but he should be wary because we will protect our party and ensure that Kenyatta’s projects and legacy are upheld,” he added.
But Raila has repeatedly insisted that his union with Uhuru has nothing to do with Jubilee, adding that he remains the leader of the opposition.
