Enigma can be defined as something or somebody mysterious or rather difficult to understand.
For a long time in Kenyan politics, the term has been used to refer to the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga because of his political unpredictability and prowess.
Renown political analyst and the University of Nairobi lecturer Prof Herman Manyora, through his YouTube Channel, says that the tables have turned.
According to him, the new enigma in the Kenyan scene is the current Deputy President William Ruto.
According to the analyst, DP Ruto is moving the centre of Kenyan politics currently as he forms the headline of news, newspapers, political debates among others, similar to what has been happening to former Prime Minister for years now.
"Kenyan Politics is shifting. William Ruto seems to be moving the centre of Kenyan Politics. He makes the news, newspaper headlines, radio, talk shows, political analysts, commentaries," the analyst said.
"In fact, so much so that William Ruto seems to have replaced Raila Amollo Odinga in terms of being the most powerful man and the most sought-after man," he added.
Prof Manyora recalled the times when there was no news if Raila was not mentioned, typified by the famous "Baba while you were away" but then DP Ruto has changed all that.
He further added the Kenyan politics today is about those who are bashing Ruto, those bashing the ones bashing Ruto, what Ruto says meaning news is not news unless DP Ruto is mentioned.
"It would appear that not only is William Ruto moving the centre of Kenyan politics, but he is also actually becoming the enigma, replacing Raila. Viewed that way, Raila appears to be the first casualty to fall in Ruto's pursuit for the presidency," the analyst opined.
