The association's national chairman John Mwatha says the crackdown has created a leeway for traffic police officers to make money.

He said most accidents in the county are caused by human error and as such, the government should look into ways of curbing road accidents like ensuring that all drivers go for refresher courses.

“Most accidents in the county are caused by human error and as such the government should look into ways of curbing road accidents like ensuring all drivers go for refresher courses. This can be done by the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA)," Mwatha said.

He addressed the press in Nakuru town on Monday.

Mwatha said in most cases, drivers often fall asleep due to fatigue thereby causing road accidents.

He said the introduction of matatu saccos has now made it easier to handle errant drivers and conductors flouting traffic rules and regulations on various roads across the country.

Mwatha said driving schools also play a great role in training drivers.

He said they should be involved by the government as players in the industry.
