Ongwae has also lamented that youths are not taking their talents seriously despite the county government's efforts to nurture them.

He challenged youths not to shy away from exploiting their talents.

"My government is committed to ensuring youth talents are nurtured but, my fears are that youths do not want to exploit their talents fully. I urge all the youths with talents in sports and any other co-curriculum activities to exploit them," Ongwae said.

The Governor further regretted that talented youths have ventured into alcohol consumption and urged parents and guardians to always educate their children on the dangers of drug abuse.

"The lives of youths need to be taken care of by advising them accordingly. Youths with talents will not be abandoned to engage in drug abuse," he stated.

Ongwae was speaking on Monday at Gusii stadium when he graced the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) three-day seminar and Physical Endurance Test (PET) for officials who will be officiating the Kenya Premier League, National Super League, and the Division League matches next season.
