The leaders have congratulated Matiang'i saying he is doing a commendable job.

"I am happy that Matiang'i is working hard to ensure Michuki rules on our roads are implemented. He cleared the mess when he served as the Education Cabinet Secretary and it is time he should clear impunity in the transport sector," said Thomas Nyangaresi, a former MCA contestant in Bomariba ward, Kisii County.

Anthony Kibagendi, a Jubilee politician who unsuccessfully vied for Kitutu Chache South MP seat during the last year's polls urged Matiang'i not to look back.

"The Interior CS Dr. Matiangi is doing a good job on this particular one, it may be inconveniencing presently, but it will be exciting in a few weeks, change is hard at first, challenging in the middle, but exciting at the end....," wrote Kibagendi on his Facebook page.

Ex-Bonchari MP Protus Kebati said PSVs which won't comply with the rules should keep off the roads.

"Lives of our people must be protected. Matiang'i should not succumb. Let him remain strong for the road rules to be adhered to," said Kebati.
