In a move that is likely to arouse controversies, the county government of Uasin Gishu is planning to relocate the Central Primary School from the Eldoret town Central Business District (CBD).
The school is located in a prime land within the CBD, just behind one of the popular malls in town, Zion Mall.
In a post on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, governor Jackson Mandago said the relocation of the school to a residential area is meant to create another relaxation park in Eldoret which is expecting to be bestowed the city status soon.
“We will preserve/rehabilitate Sosiani River to create an amusement/eco-park and plan to relocate the Central Pri from CBD to residential area in order to create another relaxation park in Eldoret as we work on the city's master plan,” reads part of Mandago’s post.

The governor further said his administration is partnering with local and international state and non-state actors to construct low-cost housing, fix sanitation and other infrastructural development under the City Resilience Program.
“Uasin Gishu County will receive Ksh 630Million from World Bank to partly fund these projects, the first batch of the funds will be ready mid-November, this is according to the visiting bank officials,” said the governor in the Facebook post.
