A former Member of Parliament from Gusii region has dismissed claims that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i is suitable for presidency in 2022.
Protus Momanyi, ex-Bonchari MP said Matiang'i should not waste time vying for the country's top seat.
"I am urging Matiang'i not to rush to vie for the country's top seat because Kenyans won't vote for him due to his strictness. Let him fight to continue being a Cabinet secretary or he be appointed to other top positions but, not vying for presidency," he said.
Momanyi faulted a section of elected leaders from the Gusii community who are drumming support for Matiang'i ahead of the 2022 general elections.
"Matiang'i should be careful not to be mislead by some leaders who are pushing him to vie for Presidency. I am of the opinion that the leaders are pressuring Matiang'i for nothing knowing that he can't win the top seat in the country," he added.
According to him, there is no Gusii politician who will stand to vie for the country's top seat because most of the elected leaders and those aspiring to be leaders have no unity.
