Lugari Member of Parliament Ayub Savula has stressed on the need for unity among Western Kenya political leaders.
Speaking on Radio Citizen Wednesday night, the lawmaker noted that the disunity in the region has turned the Luhya community into a voting machine for outsiders.
He termed it unfortunate that all national leaders eyeing the presidency are anticipating the region's votes, despite it having presidential hopefuls too.
Savula gave an example of both opposition leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto whom, he said, have already locked-off their Nyanza and Rift Valley bedrocks respectively, but will obviously troop to Western in search of votes.
‘’Western has turned into a dance-floor where Raila and Ruto come for political dance after locking off their backyards" he said.
He blamed the same on the region’s biggest political figures, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Moses Wetangula, accusing them of poor leadership.
He urged the two to take control of the region, failure to which, he said, they will never realize their presidential ambitions.
"They cannot enjoy national respect due to their inability to unite the Luhya community,’’ said Savula.
