West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio has expressed his high hopes for a healthier Jubilee Party following President Uhuru Kenyatta's Sunday's rant at Kasarani.
An agitated Uhuru lashed out at a section of party members from his Mt Kenya backyard, whom he observed have been using political rallies to demean and disrespect him.
Speaking on Monday, Poghisio hoped that Uhuru's remarks will restore order in the party, stressing on the need for members to stop downplaying him as the head of state.
"I hope from now, things will be straightened in that party and the President will be the president," he said on NTV's AM Live on Monday morning.
He justified Uhuru's anger, saying that there was a need for him to stamp his authority and remind those attempting to downplay him that he remains in charge.
Poghisio added that Uhuru acted appropriately, as far as retaining his position as the party boss is concerned.
"It’s time for the President to remind people that he is the party leader and it is important for people to respect the party leader," added the lawmaker.
In his rant, Uhuru reminded the members of the Tangatanga group that their political success depends on him, saying that he made them who they are and not the other way round.
