Nyamira Senator Okong'o Omogeni is in trouble following the alleged disappearance of Sh1 billion from Nyamira County.
Locals have condemned the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Senator for sleeping in his oversight role.
"As locals, we regret electing the lazy senator who won't help us. If he believes he is a leader let him come out and tell us where Governor John Nyagarama took Sh1 billion because there is no tangible development in the county," said Ann Bosibori.
Fred Machoni urged the senator to voluntarily resign because he is in a deep sleep while public funds are being stolen by cartels.
"This is the right time for the senator to leave office because he is of no meaning to us. Nyamira County will continue lagging behind because the leaders we elected have only prioritized their stomachs," said Machoni, a local.
Another local Stephen Nyabuto regretted electing Omogeni saying most of the locals elected ODM party instead of electing an individual.
"It is sad we elected Omogeni because he was vying on an ODM party ticket. Our hopes are on the hands of the DPP and DCI to arrest corrupt individuals in Nyamira County," noted Nyabuto.
